Let’s compare Bare minerals vs IT cosmetics and see which foundation brand is the best.
Whether you are looking to find out the main differences between IT Cosmetics vs Bare Minerals or you want to compare the brands powder foundations. I’m going to introduce both brands and compare and review a selection of my favourite Bare Minerals and It Cosmetics powders, foundations and beauty products that I think you’ll love.
Bare minerals vs IT Cosmetics Comparison table
Bare minerals fashion a range of luscious earthy mineral formula foundations that often have natural sun protection. IT cosmetics on the other hand create cosmetics with a more balanced mix of natural and cosmetic ingredients but with a focus on anti ageing ingredients including Hyaluronic acid.
It cosmetics love shiny femininely packaged products and focus a lot of attention on marketing and design. Bare minerals keep their packaging looking much more basic but I think this simplicity goes hand in hand with the brands natural vision for the future of makeup.

Let’s look at It Cosmetics
It Cosmetics has been described as a cult beauty brand and it’s not hard to see why. It Cosmetics prides itself for changing the life of real people with real results. Firstly, this brand works with the knowledge and guidance of plastic surgeons and dermatologists, helping make sure that It Cosmetic products deliver on their promises!
Whether it’s anti-ageing or moisturising, this brand relies on their expert team of professionals to make sure their products will actually provide what consumers are looking for. It Cosmetics relies on skin loving ingredients, making sure their products are safe and successful for all skin types, especially the super sensitive. Whether it’s makeup or skincare, you can be sure there aren’t any nasties in there.
This brand not only believes that everyone is beautiful, but that everyone deserves to feel beautiful too. Above all, their goal is to inspire confidence. They take the trust consumers have placed in them seriously, which is why they have a consulting team of plastic surgeons and dermatologist.
This ensures everything is made with love and care, so that you can feel your most beautiful self every day. Jamie Kern, an award-winning TV-news anchor, and founder of It Cosmetics started the brand because she experienced many beauty challenges and just couldn’t find products that worked for her. So, she decided to create them instead.
You see, this is not just another brand pushing their clinically tested products. This is a brand that knows the struggles many face when searching for truly life changing products and has made it its mission to fill that gap.
Bare minerals vs IT cosmetics powder foundation comparison
Let’s compare Bare Minerals and IT cosmetics powders so we can see the differences between each brands foundations. I’ll consider what ingredients they use in their formulas, how they look and find out which foundation is most buildable from sheer to full coverage.
Bare minerals offer a selection of different powder foundation collections but the main foundations are the Bare minerals original powder and blemish rescue foundation. IT cosmetics sell their Celebration foundation with it’s shiny metallic casing and their interestingly named, but popular BYE BYE foundation.

The bare minerals original powder range is the ultimate pioneering foundation starting the clean beauty movement in the 90’s. The original powder formula is available in a selection of 30 different shades ranging from the lightest shade Fair 01 to the darkest shade fittingly labelled Deepest Deep 30.
Between the lightest and darkest shades is a range spanning light, medium and dark colour tones, making it easy to find a match for your skin tone.
Mineral makeup has a number of benefits, but the most important is it’s lack of artificial, pore clogging ingredients. Some of the ingredients in the natural mineral formulas already offer sun protection. Sometimes mineral formula foundations don’t offer broad spectrum sun protection but Bare minerals do with this foundation.
Minerals formulas are light and are much more easily buildable than artificial and often thick, cosmetic formulas. This light mineral based formula has been developed using 5 minerals. I love less ingredients and no additives always catches my attention as I try to work towards a cleaner beauty routine and less cosmetics, even though I’m struggling to let go of many of my cream foundations.
I’m going to try and combine natural and non-natural formulas from now on and try and find the right balance. The main ingredients in the original powder foundation are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Both Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are active ingredients meaning they have a therapeutic / biological effect. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide both offer sun protection.
The foundation pictured above is the fairly medium 05 tone which is one of the lighter tones. This foundation range is clean and Bare minerals claim it improves skin by reducing the appearance of flaws and imperfections without clogging pores ( Non-comedogenic ) with unnatural ingredients.
The consistency of this powder is loose and lightweight, making it easy to build on. I love to wear lightweight powders if I’m going to be wearing it all day long, or late into the night at a big event because the light mineral formula is thin and it feels like your skin can breathe more easily.

We all hate blemishes, especially acne and age spots. There are many skin problems that cause red blemishes. These blemishes are often difficult to hide and the only way to try and create a smooth and clear layer of skin is to hide them with a full coverage foundation.
It’s all well and good hiding these blemishes but it’s not worth it if you are blocking pores and allowing bacteria to flourish underneath a thick pore clogging foundation. For this reason Bare minerals blemish rescue foundation comes in a loose powder that still gives your skin chance to breathe even with fuller coverage.
One of the key ingredients is salicyclic acid. This acid comes to the rescue by weaving it’s way deep down into your pores and unblocking skin cells and soaking up that oily waxy sebum, one of your body’s natural oils that we always want to wash away.
You don’t want brands that compromise on the use of natural minerals and ingredients by adding additives. Which is why this formula is cruelty free, gluten free, talc free, sls free, PEG – free and avoids use of a number of other parabens and synthetics that aren’t so good for the health of our skin.
You are unlikely to experience any oxidation with this moist mineral based complex foundation which means the colour shades stay true to the colour they appear after first contact with your skin on application. If you like powder foundations you’ll know that application can get messy. Buffing on the blemish rescue powder using a soft foundation brush takes time so be patient and you’ll see a nice smooth layer that can be built up to medium coverage.
Even though this powder is time consuming to apply, with practice you’ll figure out exactly how much you need to get that perfect texture. For the areas of your skin with blemishes, a stippling technique will help you dab and dot the foundation onto these area of your skin and still see a flawless and more natural coverage
IT cosmetics celebration foundation

It cosmetics celebration is one of my favourite low priced choice foundations sensitive skin. Not only does this celebration foundation hydrate but it can smooth out those signs of ageing.
My first impression on looking at this foundation was the beautiful metallic silver rim on the container. The appearance of an eye catching beauty product always excites me but what excites me even more is IT cosmetics claim about what this foundation can do.
IT cosmetic claim the formula is anti- ageing, gives you highly pigmented full coverage that won’t crack or crease and has hydrating properties.
The brand certainly throws a lot of big hitting and recognisable ingredients into the mix with this formula to try and match their claims. Peptides, anti-oxidants, grape seed, olive, hyaluronic acid, aloe, Niacin, rose, Vitamins a-c and silk are all included in this impressive recipe.
These are some seriously tasty sounding ingredients, especially when this is a foundation and not an intensive skin cream or moisturiser. But perhaps the most impressive and widely talked about ingredient is Hydrolyzed collagen. Hydrolyzed collagen can help improve the appearance of your dry or damaged skin because Collagen is one of your bodies main building blocks for the growth of hair, skin cells and bones.
It Cometics Byebye foundation

It cosmetics have created a few foundations and finishing powders in their ByeBye collection. This ByeBye foundation is a finishing powder that is buildable and has a gentle matte finish.
Sun protection isn’t a part of this formula because it isn’t mineral based but the brands byebye full coverage moisturiser sits well underneath this formula and offer factor 50 SPF. The ingredients list is extensive and includes 7 fermented ingredients. Fermented ingredients used in cosmetics formulas usually spark the growth of skin friendly probiotics and lactic acids.
Using a fermentation process on certain ingredients can increase their potency as well as giving you the extra probiotics and lactic acids which can also offer anti-inflammatory and skin calming benefits to your skin
Which is better – IT cosmetics or bare minerals
My all round favourite product across It cosmetics and Bare Minerals cosmetics range is the Bare minerals original powder foundation. The simple mineral based formula has natural sun protection, offers an extensive range of more than 30 colour tones and is lightweight and easy to apply.
The formula doesn’t clog my pores and feels comfortable to wear even if you build it up to medium coverage. When compared with IT cosmetics Celebration foundation, the bare minerals original foundation offers a much cleaner experience but doesn’t have the anti ageing collagen, peptides and hyaluronic acid that the IT celebration foundation has.
If an anti-ageing foundation is your goal the It cosmetics celebration foundation is a good choice, if you are willing to compromise on the additional cosmetic ingredients.
It cosmetics Byebye foundation is for all day wear but is more of a finishing powder than a full build able foundation. However the ByeBye range is now quite extensive and includes a delicious sounding cream moisturising foundation which I hope to try in the near future.
If you skin is challenged by blemishes and the dreaded acne, then the Bare minerals blemish rescue foundation offers a slightly fuller coverage foundation that includes the bacteria fighting salicylcic acid to fight your blemishes deeper rather than just hiding them under thick oxygen sapping foundations that allow bacteria to build up underneath.
