Babe Lash vs Grandelash : Eyelash serum comparison

Babe Lash and Grande Lash are two of the best eyelash growth serums available, but there are some key differences between the two products.  We’ll take an in depth look at customer reviews, side effects, how they work, and their ingredients to give you the inside scoop on Babe Lash vs Grande Lash.

Is Babe Lash or Grande Lash Better?

Both of the products contain similar active ingredients and yield similar results in about the same amount of time. They also have prostaglandins as their main active ingredient. Prostaglandins are use in eyelash serums because they are able to stimulate the growth of lashes.

However, there are also some potential side effects associated with their use, including irritation and redness of the eyes. Some people may also experience an allergic reaction to prostaglandins. We’ll take a close look and compare side effects later.

Babe Lash contains Phenoxyethanol, a paraben. Phenoxyethanol is used in eyelash serums because it’s an inexpensive preservative that is effective in killing bacteria. Grande Lash is certified paraben free and the ingredients are organic.  It has also been certified to not contain harmful chemicals.

Eyelash serums that are parabon free can help reduce the chance of your lashes being damaged. Parabon free products are typically made with natural ingredients and are therefore usually safer for use around your eyes, reducing the risk of irritation, but not removing side effects completely.

Which works faster?

Both companies recommend that the user waits up to 12 weeks to see the full results of lash growth. However, the companies state that the initial results, of longer and thicker lashes, were seen in 4 weeks for Babe Lash and 4-6 weeks for Grande Lash.

After digging deep in the product reviews on both the company websites and on Amazon, we found that users of both products experienced a wide range of results. Most found that they had lash growth and improved thickness, but others didn’t see much of a difference.

Several reviewers found “zero improvement” after several weeks of using Babe Lash.  On the other hand, the main complaint of Grande Lash users are about styes and discoloration of the eyelid.  It is far more rare for Grande Lash to not work.

Which is vegan?

Babe Lash is certified vegan and cruelty free.  On the other hand, Grande Lash products are cruelty free, but they are not certified vegan.  If you follow the vegan lifestyle, Babe Lash would be the way to go. Babelash also contains no synthetic fragrances, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or gluten.

Which is easier to buy?

You can buy Grande Lash from Grande Cosmetics, Sephora, Ulta, Macys, Amazon Premium Beauty and Walmart.com.  Babe Lash is available from Babe Lash cosmetics, Cosmoprof, Amazon, and Walmart.com.  Since Grande Lash has been around for longer, it is more readily available.

Amazon is notorious for selling knock off products that are advertised as the real deal.  Be wary of this because some reviewers, of both products, complain that their bottles were dry, ran out quickly, or were different from the bottles they purchased directly from the manufacturer. Be sure to purchase from the brand itself on Amazon. We’ll post links to the most legitimate products in our comparison table above.

What about the side effects?

Since they are both ophthalmologist tested and approved the side effects for both lash serums are uncommon and likely not servere in those without any underlying condition, but both brands have risks.

The active ingredient in Babe Lash and Grande Lash is Prostaglandin, a chemical that the FDA found not safe for use without the supervision of a licensed practitioner, which can cause permanent darkening of the eyes.

More common side effects of Babe Lash are stinging and irritation, dryness, and redness. The side effects are more often seen in those with sensitive skin.

Only 3% of Grande Lash users experienced side effects and they usually had less drastic issues than Babe Lash users.  Some users of Grande Lash experienced itching, eye pain, irritation, and dark pigmentation around the eyes.

The idea of this is quite scary, but some Amazon reviewers actually like the look of the “eyeliner”. More importantly, unlike the eye color changes caused by Babe Lash, this discoloration will go away after you stop using Grand Lash.

And the winner between Grandelash and Babelash is…

Overall, we found that Grande Lash is the best option for the widest range of people. Grande Lash has been proven to work on thousands, including those with damaged and broken lashes. It has been proven to improve the thickness and length of natural lashes.

GrandeLash has been on the market for longer than Babe Lash, and more users have tried the product. It is also offered at more retailers than Babe Lash.  You can even use Grande Lash serum with eyelash extensions and contact lenses!

Although it is not certified vegan, it has more natural and organic ingredients, without parabens.  Fewer users experienced side effects with Grande Lash, and the side effects they did have were less severe then with Babelash, however Babelash is a relative newcomer in the eyelash serum industry so we need more time to see how users opinions and experiences change over time.

Ingredients

There are some ingredients you should look out for if you want the best chance of your lash serum working and not causing too many side effects. Prostaglandin analogues are one of the only ingredients proven to have an effect on lash growth. Latisse use Bimatoprost, but you can’t buy it in the shops which is why both grandelash and Babe lash don’t use Bimatoprost along with other brands like Nulastin.

Rodan and Fields Lash Boost and Babe lash both use synthetic prostaglandin analogues which have a similar but less proven effect on your lashes. Most lash serum brands use a combination of Biotin, peptides, hyaluronic acid, camellia extract, , keratin and elastropin.

With lash serums, you can’t tell how effective they are going to be by only looking at the ingredients. There is often very little research around lash growth ingredients. Instead, look at what other users experience and try to find studies involving these ingredients that might give you an idea of how they work.

As you can see Babelash and Grandelash both have similar ingredients and results are also similar. The main difference is that Babelash use Vegan ingredients and Grandelash don’t. However Grande lash don’t use Parabens.

Consider Safety & Side effects

Side effects definitely don’t make a good lash growth serum, but you have to be aware of the small chance of experiencing them. You apply these serums very close to your eyes where the skin is very sensitive. Eyes become irritated easily so be sure to avoid any contact with your eyes.

Apply a small amount first and check how your skin reacts to it. Gradually increase the amount you use over a few days or a week, up to the amount the manufacturer suggests you apply each day.

How long do lash growth serums take to work

Surprisingly, Lash serum brands are quite honest about how long they take to work. The shortest time I’ve seen advertised is 4 weeks and you will often see it can take up to 2 months or more to see the full effect.

Some brands even suggest 4 months as being the peak when you’ll know how the formula works for you. Be patient and most importantly, take a photograph every week so you can more easily spot any hair growth changes.

Stopping using an eyelash serum

No lash growth serum offers permanent effects, even though we might wish they did. Lash growth serums offer a temporary solution to help your lashes look thicker and fuller for a while. After you stop applying any brands lash growth serum it will slowly stop having an effect.

After a few weeks your lashes will return to their normal length and thickness and you’ll have to wear lash extensions if you want longer lashes but don’t want to keep applying a serum.
