Let’s compare 2 of the biggest eyelash serum brands. Babelash and Revitalash are growing in popularity but are the results as good as you might expect. Let’s take a closer look at which eyelash serum is better, what ingredients these serums contain and how long users say it usually takes for them to see results. We also need to talk about side effects and why lash serums have a reputation for irritating your eyes.

Is Revitalash or babe lash better?
Revitalash are the more established of the two brands and we like their advanced eyelash conditioner better than the comparable babe lash essential lash serum. The reason why we like Revitalash better is because we love the styling and branding around their products and we feel like more people have had a better experience with their advanced lash conditioner. However, choosing between these two brands comes down to trying them out and seeing which works best for you.
Babelash are growing fast and targeting younger ladies with their lash growth formula. Revitalash market their lash serums with an approach and styling you’ll find from brands like Maybelline who have more sophisticated and classy branding.
When comparing Babe lash and Revitalash you’ll find most people experience some improved growth of their eyelashes within 2 to 3 weeks. Both brands serums are vegan and cruelty free but they use different formulas. Revitalash make bold claims that 98% of users experience an improvement in the overall appearance of their lashes after 6 weeks of use.
This claim isn’t backed up by any independent evidence so it’s hard to say for sure how likely you are to experience improvement other than by reading about user experiences and trying it for yourself. In comparison Babe lash don’t make such bold claims but when asked how long it might take to see results they suggest 4-6 weeks to start seeing improvements and 3 months to see the full effects.
What about the ingredients
Both Babelash and Revitalash use a lot of different ingredients but firstly let’s look at the ingredients that are likely to have the biggest impact on your lashes. Most lash serums use prostaglandin analogues. It’s a long and scientific sounding name but it’s basically a drug that was used to treat glaucoma, an eye condition. Another eyelash growth serum brand called Latisse found that there drugs had a side effect. This side effect causes eyelash to grow and is the reason why eyelash growth serums began being produced by beauty brands.
A look at Babelash key ingredients
Babelash aren’t short of ingredients with over 30 listed in their lash serum. Babelash lash enhancing serum contains some antioxidant ingredients including Panax ginseng root extract, Chamomilla Recutita flower extract and Tocopheryl Acetate. There are also a number of natural moisturising ingredients and vitamins but the key ingredient is Isopropyl Cloprostenate, the main active ingredient.
Isopropyl Cloprostenate is used in eyelash serums to help promote the growth of eyelashes. It is a synthetic prostaglandin analogue. This means it helps to increase the length, thickness and darkness of your eyelashes. It is also effective in treating hypotrichosis, a condition that causes thinning or loss of hair. While almost all lash serums use similar ingredients, they are both the main reason why you will most likely experience results but also the most likely cause of any unwanted side effects there is a small chance you could experience.
A closer look at Revitalash ingredients
Dechloro Dihydroxy Difluoro Ethylcloprostenolamide is the main active ingredient Revitalash use. This active ingredient is the ingredient that helps encourage lash growth. There isn’t a lot of research about this ingredient but one study talks about it being able to have unwanted effects when used in close proximity to your eyes.
Peptides are used in eyelash growth serums because they can help to stimulate the growth of new lashes. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that are found naturally in the body and play an important role in cell regeneration. When applied topically, peptides can help to encourage the growth of new cells, including eyelashes. Peptides are used widely in the beauty industry but how much they might help your eyelashes grow isn’t clear.
Biotin is another ingredient used in the Revitalash advanced lash serum that is commonly used in the beauty and eyelash growth industry. Biotin is used on eyelash hairs because it can help to make them grow and strengthen. There is some evidence that biotin may be effective for reducing certain types of hair loss, including alopecia. However, there is no conclusive evidence that biotin is effective in stopping hair loss, and more research is needed to see if it really can help lash growth.
Which shows results faster ?
I’d love to say which serum is most likely to give you results faster but all I can really do is take a look at other user experiences and let you know what most people experience. Revitalash claim on their website that 98% of users experience an improvement in the appearance of their lashes. After reading a number of different users experiences It seems like 2 weeks is the soonest some people notice a difference and on the other end of the scale some don’t experience any changes or stop using the formula when it irritates their eyes or their lashes become tender.
Babe lash say you should see results within 4-6 weeks but that it can take up to 3 months for you to notice the full effect. During this long wait you can use lash extensions because the formula is oil free and won’t loosen your lash extension adhesive.
Comparing side effects
Lash serums have a reputation for causing side effects, but is this justified?
We think it is. Even though the chance of experiencing bad side effects is low, there is still a chance that users could experience red eyes, dry skin and minor issues. Revitalash use DDDE which is an ingredient that causes some concern when used close to your eyes. This is the case with the main ingredient in almost every eyelash serum including with Isopropyl Cloprostenate that Babelash use.
Some babe lash customers experienced red eyes and decided to use less of the formula each day until they stopped experiencing problems. I think this is a risky approach to take and instead it would be better to patch test on your arm and slowly build up the amount of formula you use around your eyes. if you experience irritation stop using the product and if you do decide to try again, only use a very small amount.
In comparison, users of Revitalash advanced eyelash conditioner haven’t reported many side effects. Some users have experienced redness and itchy eyes but there don’t seem to be a lot of reports of people having problems. Revitalash claim the formula is non irritating and hypoallergenic. Hypoallergenic cosmetics are products that should have done some testing to show that their product only has a small chance of creating an allergic reaction. Many fragrances, shampoos, soaps, and makeup contain ingredients that can cause contact dermatitis, hives, or other skin irritation.
Side effects definitely don’t make a good lash growth serum, but you have to be aware of the small chance of experiencing them. You apply these serums very close to your eyes where the skin is very sensitive. Eyes become irritated easily so be sure to avoid any contact with your eyes. Apply a small amount first and check how your skin reacts to it. Gradually increase the amount you use over a few days or a week, up to the amount the manufacturer suggests you apply each day.

Final thoughts – Babe lash or Revitalash
Choosing between these 2 lash serums brands isn’t easy because both brands are likely to give you some good results. If I had to choose I’d choose Revitalash because I have seen less reports of side effects by users of Revitalash compared with Babelash. Babe lash use of Isopropyl Cloprostenate is one of the most worrying ingredients as I think it is more likely to cause irritation than any other ingredients these two brands use.
Revitalash is usually a little bit cheaper than Babelash and Is the more established brand. Both brands lash serums are vegan and paraben free and Revitalash is also hypoallergenic. Overall Revitalash use the more natural ingredients that are less concerning than Babelash but there is a chance of irritation with any eyelash growth serum and usually more questionable ingredients like Isopropyl Cloprostenate will give results with a slightly increased risk of you experiencing eye irritation or redness when compared with ingredients like biotin and peptides that may not produce results as quickly.
