In this article I am going to compare the skincare brands, Exuviance and Dermalogica.
I am comparing Exuviance vs Dermalogica because they have both developed an exciting range of skin care products. Exuviance focus mostly on anti-ageing skin care products that have clinical formulas, whereas Dermalogica have created a range of mostly natural and vegan products that offers a more tailored solution to your skin care needs, individually suited to your skin type.

Dermalogica vs Exuviance comparison table
Is Exuviance a good brand
Exuviance is a performance-based skincare brand who are creating the perfect blend of clinical ingredients and products that have a spa like quality to them. Innovative and clinical skincare experts came together and founded Exuviance, turning it into the successful brand it is today. The pioneering people behind Exuviance are responsible for discoveries like Glycolic Acid, and with over 100 patents, this brand knows how to take care of you. Their brands mission is in the name.
Exuviation is the shedding of exterior skin cells, revealing the fresh and healthy skin beneath. Pair that with luxurious smelling products and elegant packaging, Exuviance is here to show you that you can have extravagant skincare that is made with clinical grade ingredients.
The brand have a wide variety of products to choose from too, but their best-selling items include their SkinRise Morning Glow toner and Age Reverse SPF 30 sunscreen. Their anti-aging products are among the most beloved and do come at a higher price than your standard skincare brands.
Their cheapest product is the Daily Eye Smoother, whereas their Lift Volumizing Concentrate moisturiser will cost you more than twice the price. You might ask yourself, with these prices, are you paying for science or luxury? The answer is both. Each product contains quality ingredients and is perfectly ph balanced to avoid any skin irritation while ensuring maximum performance. Is it a little pricier? Yes. But can you afford to put a little more self-care into your skincare? Always.
An overview of Dermalogica
Dermalogica on the other hand is not just a brand, it’s a whole community that offers personalised professional skincare products recommended by world class skin therapists. The brand was founded in 1986 by a skin therapist who desired to provide other skin therapists with top grade products. This desire and commitment to healthy skin has made it one of the most popular skincare brands today.
Dermalogica and its therapists understand that no one person’s skin is the same as another, and personalised skin care is the best way to healthier and better skin. Dermalogica is also incredibly committed to sustainability. Their products are vegan, cruelty and gluten-free, contain no artificial colours or fragrances, as well as microplastics and other harmful ingredients.
They are mindful of their packaging and ensure overall that nothing potentially harmful or irritating will come near your skin. Now that is how you take care of your customers!
Take one look at Dermalogica’s simple marketing and packaging, and you know this is a transparent brand truly committed to putting the customers’ needs first. Additionally, their prices are just as humble as their philosophy. In their anti-ageing line, their cheapest product is the skin resurfacing cleanser . However, their most expensive product, the power rich max strength skin treatment jumps far ahead, and can cost hundreds of dollars! The range this brand offers is incredible, meaning products are available for professionals as well as the everyday person. Additionally, as a customer you have the opportunity to consult with one of Dermalogica’s skin therapists, who will help you put together a skincare routine tailored to your needs.
Comparing Dermalogica and Exuviance face creams
These brands have a lot of products in their face cream ranges so I’m going to select a few of my favourites to show you. My favourite product is the Dermalogica skin smoothing cream. This is an intensive 48 hour facial moisturiser that contains both Vitamin E and Vitamin C, is vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and paraben free. The consistency of this intensive moisturising cream is surprisingly not too thick or lightweight.
Thick moisturisers are difficult to apply under your luxury foundations but this skin smoothing formula sits nicely and isn’t oily or sticky. I’ve heard from friends with oily, dry and sensitive skin that they don’t experience any irritation from this formula and it really feels like Dermalogica’s claim that their hydramesh technology used in this skin smoothing cream holds moisture in your skin well, seems to be accurate. As well as using this technology, a combination of aloe Vera leaf juice, citrus flower extract, elderberry and a number of interesting natural ingredients have been blended into the ingredients list.
Exuvience offer a daily defence face cream that also has SPF 20 protection. Exuviance’s cream doesn’t have the intense moisturising qualities of the Dermalogica skin smoothing cream but instead the formula has anti-ageing properties and ingredients that work to make your skin tone brighter and protect your skin from the elements, especially the sun.
The two products are similar in the way they both work well on sensitive skin. This formula contains anti-oxidants and an Aha/bionic blend. Aha is a mixture containing both plant and animal derived acids that help exfoliate skin, brighten your skin tone and promote collagen production which helps the fight against those unwanted signs of ageing.
Dermalogica vs Exuviance serum comparison
Dermalogica offer an alluring face serum, their age bright clearing serum which contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid works deep down in your pores, unblocking clogged pores fighting black heads, white heads and acne as well as offering an intense exfoliation.
Using products containing a lot of this popular acid can dry out your skin and serums are often moist and sticky. Luckily this all natural age bright clearing serum blend gets the balance right. The formula contains Phytoactives from the Ressurection desert plant that holds moisture in your skin extremely well. I love the use of hydrating and exfoliating ingredients that compliment each other well.
Dermalogica make full use of gluten free and vegan beauty ingredients, that includes a unique blend of Niacinamide alongside shiitake mushroom. These two ingredients work to make your skin tone appear more even and the vitamin B Niacinamide has aniti-inflammatory qualities meaning it can fight acne while easing. This serum also has a pleasant scent and a small amount goes a long way. If I had to choose between both brands serums I’d choose Dermalogica over Exuviance, mostly because of the all natural formula.
Exuviance entice us with their futuristic sounding, cleanly packaged Vespera Bionic serum. Apply this oily face serum a little at a time and wait for it to dry before applying any foundation of other face make up on top.
If it’s your first time using a face oil based serum, apply it sparingly and enjoy the sensation and process of self care, massaging a face oil into your skin feels like. Applying these serums feels like a luxurious experience rather than a skin care chore and your skin will thank you for it. Exuviance don’t use an all natural formula like Dermalogica but they do use a blend of antioxidant vitamins that includes vitamin, C, A and E.
Mixed alongside these ingredients are Alpha Hydroxy and Polyhydroxy Acids. Alpha Hydroxy acids are becoming more common in skin care products and offer a strong chemical exfoliation. You should see them as a chance to refresh and revitalise your skin tone, but expect some peeling and if you see them combined with vitamin C, you can be sure that they work well together with their similar PH levels.
Final comparison of Exuviance and Dermalogica
If I had to choose between these two skin care brands I’d choose Dermalogica because of their more natural approach to anti-ageing and skin care. However, Exuviance did bring Glycolic acid into the beauty industry and they have made some significant advances in beauty products through their more scientific and clinical approach to skin care.
My favourite Exuviance product is their daily defence cream which can make your skin tone look smoother and hide wrinkles and lines. Their Vespera bionic serum is another of their most popular formulas which isn’t surprising with it’s anti-oxidant line up of ingredients.
Overall Dermalogica have an exciting brand vision and a line up of skin care products natural enough to match this vision. If you are looking for an intensive exfoliation the age bright clearing serum with salicylic acid is one of the best and most effective around and you’ll feel it deep down in your pores.
Whichever brand you choose to try I hope you enjoy experimenting with their skincare ranges and enjoy applying their unique formulas.
